Golden Tie Tuxes opens doors

There’s a new store on West Blue Earth Avenue in Fairmont called Golden Tie Tuxes. Kathy Detert just opened the “boutique,” which offers tuxedo and shoe rentals.
Detert has lived in Fairmont for about 30 years. For 25, she was a vocational counselor for the state of Minnesota, serving Faribault and Martin counties. Most recently, she spent the past four years working at Enderson’s Clothing, where she took measurements and coordinated tuxedo rentals.
Opening her own business was not something Detert had ever really considered, but she saw a need and wanted to pursue a passion of hers — working with and helping people.
“People my age don’t usually do this, but that’s just me,” Detert said with a laugh, explaining that she likes to stay busy and socialize.
