The central mission of Fairmont Area Schools is student learning: Inspired Learning for Life!

We work together to help all students to master our essential learning standards and to achieve well beyond these essential standards in those areas where they have the interest and ability to do so.

In order to better define this mission we are systematically working to provide clear answers to the following fundamental questions:

• What is it that we want all students to learn – by grade level, by course and by unit of instruction?
• How will we know when each student has acquired the intended knowledge and skills?
• How will we respond when students experience initial difficulty so that we can improve upon current levels of learning?
• How will we respond when students have acquired knowledge and skills beyond the typical scope of the curriculum?

The work necessary to answer these questions drives our continuous improvement and staff development initiatives.

The CHRISTIAN HOME is the Master’s Workshop where the processes of character molding are silently, lovingly, faithfully, and successfully carried on.

The CHRISTIAN SCHOOL broadens and continues the training which began in the Christian Home. It teaches God’s plan, which encompasses knowledge of YESTERDAY and TODAY, for TOMORROW.

The CHRISTIAN CHURCH is the Firm Foundation, our Refuge and Strength. It gives meaning and direction to living and learning in God’s world. LUTHERAN SCHOOLS provide a distinctively Christian home-church-school partnership.

St. John Vianney School is a safe, dynamic school where students are surrounded by faculty and staff with one primary goal: to provide an excellent education to students while giving witness to Christ’s love, mercy and compassion. We encourage all students to achieve their maximum potential intellectually, personally, physically and spiritually.

We are blessed with the resources to provide a diverse education that includes many special programs such as art and music, along with class sizes small enough to give each child the attention he or she needs.

CER’s mission is to provide lifelong, learning and leisure opportunities for all ages. We are here to help make Fairmont the best it can be by partnering with other community organizations, non-profits, educational institutions, and the City of Fairmont.

Martin County West, a consolidated district comprised of the former Sherburn-Dunnell, Trimont and Welcome School Districts established in 1988.

A Christian day school, St. James Lutheran School serves the academic, spiritual, and bodily needs of children of Martin, Faribault, and Watonwan Counties in Minnesota as well communities in northern Iowa. Located in the City of Northrop, St. James Lutheran School is midway between Fairmont and Truman on Minnesota Highway 15.

St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Truman offers a diverse curriculum including Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Health, Computer Instruction, Religion, Music, Art and Physical Education. The full academic curriculum is taught from a Christian perspective with the criteria of excellence and is offered for grades Preschool through Grade 8.

Like no other high school in southern Minnesota, Martin Luther High School, Northrop is a leader in bringing Christ into the lives of teenagers while providing them with an exemplary education and a variety of extra-curricular activities–all of which prepares teens for successful lives as Christian adult leaders.

Truman Public Schools, an independent school district who offers classes in grades K-12. All students attend classes right here in the community, with the elementary in the east wings and the high school in the west wings.

Fairmont Christian School will be an elementary school of excellence and influence.  We desire to expand the Kingdom of God by providing a second-to-none educational experience, thereby preparing our students to become persons of influence for Christ.

We will do this by being Christ-centered and biblically-concentrated.  Our academics will be research-driven and student-focused.  We recognize that we can achieve nothing alone, but must work in partnership with parents, churches, and local Christian missions.  Together we will raise up our children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
